
Childline centre under mission Vatsalya scheme (Child protection service & Child welfare service)
Childline is a phone number totally free throughout the country for any emergency call and timely service and care for the children. Childline not only provide emergency services, but also provides long – time care, protection and rehabilitation for the child from any kind of discrimination, violence or violation of child rights. Childline India Foundation is a nodal agency of women and child development for setting up management and monitor Childline number 1098 all over India. Now, Childline India Foundation’ is known as mission Vatsalya.
NIWCYD has been partnering with Childline India Foundation for implementation of its activities during January 2012 in Wardha district of Maharashtra. Childline is functioning in coordination with all major stakeholders at government and civil society level. State police, district administration, department of women and child development, local bodies of self governance and other civil society organisations comprises the key stakeholders.
Apart from the activities mandated by Childline Foundation under Mission Vatsalya scheme, the expertise of NIWCYD in addressing various issues related to Child rights, the team of Wardha has their relentless efforts to identify different kinds of violation of child rights and reaching out the child victims through collective effort. This was often evident in the open houses organises in various locations and case studies narrating how the team had taken appropriate interventions to bring justice to children.
Achievements:
The team has taken successful and timely intervention in 2293 cases related to child rights so far. Significant among the interventions are rescuing children out of the possession of abusers, children forced to work under hazardous situations and blocking illegal adoption. The team has got various recognitions and honours for their exemplary skills in bringing justice to children living under poor circumstances.
